Oval Star of David & Hamsa Pendant

This sterling silver pendant is hand poured, stamped, and hammer finished so that each one is truly one of a kind. It comes on a braided leather necklace in either 18" or 20" and the loop is large enough that it can easily be transferred to a chain if desired.

The pendant has a weight of 36 grams equivalent to one Jewish ounce. The number 36 is significant in Judaism because it is double 18 a value symbolizing chai, the Hebrew word for life. During Hanukkah 36 candles are lit over the course of the 8 nights (not including the shamash). There is also a well known Jewish mystical tradition stating that there are 36 righteous people (Lamed-Vav Tzadikim) who sustain the world, unknown to it, by their merit.
